Literature Text

You and Matthew stood at the reception desk. You were both watching the clock hanging above the door. A few murmurs of encouragement had been exchanged between the two of you, now though there was just a deadly silence. You took a deep breath in looking at the large door. You couldn't explain exactly how you knew, but you could feel the darkness building on the other side of the door. This must have been how shopkeepers and security feel the brief few moments before a massive sale. People pressing up against the glass, looking around with their mind set on what they wanted. Sizing up the competition and who would be a threat and who they had to beat. You thought it was bad being on that side of the door waiting to get in, that feeling had nothing on the terror starting to build in your mind as you stood on the other side preparing for the crowd. Matthew noticed how worried you looked and gently moved his hand to squeeze yours. You looked up to him as he gave you a comforting smile. You smiled in return and looked back to the door as the final minuet started. You took a deep breath squeezing Matthew's hand. Mentally preparing yourself for the task at hand. Closing your eyes you focused on your task and remembered your training. As you focused on what you had to do, your nerves started to slip away.  The more happy memories that came into your head the more confident you felt. As the final minuet finished and the clock struck, you were ready.

“Good afternoon miss. May I please take your name?” You smiled opening up the ledger. The female demon chuckled and checked her nails.

“I'm Miss Scarlett.” The demon introduced herself. “I trust you have my appointment?”

“Hold on a moment...” You flicked through the pages, running your finger down the list of names. “Yes we have your appointment. You are here for the next session with Alfred.” You smiled looking up to her. The demon smiled and nodded.

“Yes that sounds right.” She continued to examine her nails.

“Well, the waiting room is just over there. I will call you when the next session starts.” You said in your sweetest tone.

“Thank you darling.” Miss Scarlett said as she turned and headed off to the room. As she disappeared you felt a wave of relief. The forced smile dropping from your face. The whole day had been like this. Nothing really too stressful as the majority of the clients had done it all before. There was a really sweet young demon who had come with her friends and didn't have a clue what to do. You felt helpful as you were able to explain everything to her and book her an appointment for next year. She seemed very pleased. Matthew came out to check on you every couple of sessions. He seemed to look somewhat dishevelled each time he visited, but your couldn't blame him. He stuck his head out of his room and looked over to you. Waving to him quickly he walked over to you.

“So how are things going?” He asked a little out of breath. You nodded to him.

“They are going really well.” You nodded relaxing on your desk. “Nothing extremely weird has happened and I haven't freaked out.”

“That's really good.” Matthew smiled softly. “I'm glad your okay.” You looked up to him.

“So how have you been? I've had a lot of girls rebooking you.” You said positively, this caused Matthew to blush.

“I-I've been good. It's been really weird but good.” Matthew said looking over the ledger. “I'm glad Arthur screened my guests before allowing them to book.”

“He screened them?” You asked a little surprised. “Was there anything he was looking for in particular?” Matthew ran his hand through his hair.

“Well, he was checking how long they had known us and how experienced they were.” Matthew said softly. “He picked people with lower experience to meet me for the first time so I could find my feet alongside them. When I get a bit more confident, I'll be able to work with more experienced clients. But even then it will have to be a gradual build up to them. You have no idea the messed up kinks Arthur's clients can have.” Matthew shuddered.

“Don't worry. I won't ask.” You said quickly trying to put Matthew at ease. You remembered Arthur worked on illusions, but you didn't want to think too hard about it. Another client soon appeared and you had to deal with her. Matthew seeing you were alright returned to his room.

The day seemed to run really quickly. Probably because you were always busy doing something. As you called the end of the final session you realised it was the end of the whole day. You took the last line of registrations. Waved the last few clients out, wishing them well. You happily closed the ledger on the reception desk and breathed a sigh of relief. You walked around to the sofa in the waiting room, that used to be the living room, and collapsed across it. Closing your eyes you relaxed. You never noticed how tired you were until this moment. You must have been running on adrenalin the whole day. Now you had finally stopped, you wanted to sleep until tomorrow. Before you were able to drift off to sleep and dream, a hand gently shook your shoulder.
“I hope you aren't too tired mademoiselle.” Francis chuckled looking down to you. You blinked slowly and looked up to him. Childishly you pawed at his hand to go away and let you sleep. Francis chuckled softly. “Don't worry, I'll cook for tonight.” You made a soft mewing noise and nodded. Francis chuckled even more. He had never really seen you in this state, then again you had never worked this hard since you'd been there. As your eyes fell shut and you started to drift off Francis lent forwards and gently kissed your forehead. “Rest ______. I'll come to fetch you when dinner's ready.” He whispered and stood up stretching. He gently knocked on the doors of Alfred and Matthew's rooms to ask them to be as quiet as they could be to let you sleep. Both boys agreed and Francis set off to Arthur's room. He was going to also ask him to be quieter, not that Arthur ever made a lot of noise. But he also had to go over how the day had been and if there had been any comments said to him about ______.

“Arthur? Are you decent?” Francis asked knocking on the door. He smirked as he could hear Arthur muttering in an annoyed tone on the other side. There was a bit of shuffling around before Arthur opened the door, glaring a little at Francis.

“You know I'm always bloody well decent.” He growled. Francis chuckled.

“It wouldn't be the first time I caught you...” Francis teased and was quickly interrupted by Arthur.

“Are you just here to annoy me or do you have some other reason?” Arthur snapped. Francis sighed shaking his head.

“I'm here on two notes. The first is a very simple request. The other is on a more official sum up of the day.” Francis said smiling. Arthur took a breath and sighed.

“Well you might as well come in then. We do need to discuss how the day has gone from our view.” Arthur walked into the room and sat down at his desk. Francis followed closing the door behind him and sat on the bed. Arthur spun around on his chair. “Before we get to the official stuff, what was the request?” Arthur asked. He did hope it was a sensible one, Alfred had asked Francis to request some very stupid things in the past. Francis chuckled.

“The request is that everyone try to keep the noise down until dinner. Poor little ______ is completely exhausted and is currently napping on the sofa.” He said softly. Arthur nodded in recognition.

“I'm not really too surprised. It is a long day and she doesn't really get a break.” Arthur looked round to his desk, preparing to make some notes. “Is that all the request is?”

“Oui. That is all I ask for.” Francis nodded. Arthur twitched a little annoyed Francis' french. He knew he couldn't stop him from saying the odd work here or there, but it still annoyed him. He gently picked up the quill and dipped it in the ink pot.

“So how was your day?” Arthur asked prepared to write down and issues or oddities. Francis relaxed back on the bed.

“Well most of the same really. Clients came in, clients went out. No one left disappointed so I guess on my part it was a good day. How was yours?” He looked over to Arthur who was scribbling away.

“Well mine was nothing really out of the ordinary. As with you, clients came in, then they went out. No one went out disappointed. Though I did have a few people who were new to the system. They were very interesting.” Arthur smirked as he continued to write. Francis' curiosity perked up.

“Oh really? How did they react to your talent?” Francis asked with a smirk. Arthur chuckled.

“They were very interesting indeed. Very strange thoughts, got some interesting illusions.” Arthur leant back on his chair to recall the memories. “They were both young girls too, so you can imagine what they would come up with as fun.”

“You must have had your hands full with them.” Francis grinned. “Younger girls do have such wilder fantasies.”

“Yes, it's crazy what girls come up with these days. It definitely keeps you on your toes.” Arthur chuckled, quickly dunking the quill in the ink pot. “Now did you get any comments about ______ from a client?” Arthur asked looking to Francis. “I know I certainly did.”

“I did too.” Francis nodded. “There were definitely comments I didn't expect.”

“Such as?” Arthur readied another paper.

“Well, the normal reactions were asking who she was, where we found her, stuff like that.” Francis said gesturing with his hand before chuckling. “One of the girls said it added a little bit more sex appeal to the whole system.” Arthur couldn't help but laugh.

“I've heard a few of those comments to. Asking where were we hiding her all these years.” He chuckled, but the smile quickly disappeared. His tone more serious, he looked to Francis. “As expected, we've had some girls ask if she's available to be booked for next season.” Francis' expression changed to as he looked to Arthur.

“We agreed before that she was off limits to our clients.” Francis said sternly. Arthur nodded to him.

“Exactly. All of us agreed she would be off limits to them. But after today we might face a little bit of pressure to make her available to them. We must make sure we keep her safe from them. No doubt a few may flirt more with her to try and get a slot. But we must make sure all of us, this includes Matthew and Alfred, are ready to step in if an incident was to occur.”
It's getting near mating season (as it always seems for these stories) also the 4 of them are getting rather bored. Hanging around and no one wanting to tidy up after each other. So Matthew and Alfred go out looking for a new maid... and some fun.

Well I'm back (again) and this time I should have returned to my story rota. Aiming to get more uploaded. And we have finally reached mating season! And you could be in a lot of trouble ;)
